It's been almost a week since I posted the last chapter and the epilogue of Haunted, and I have received numerous of what you may call complaints. Clearly, and I'm aware of this, I didn't give you the ending you were hoping for, and that is what I'm going to talk about in this post. The ending itself was not planned from the very beginning, but was decide after around 12 chapters, and I knew right away that it would make people, not dislike the story itself, but dislike the way I decided to handle the ending. Something I never told you before I wrote the story, or even during, is that I'm not a big fan of the typical happy ending, where the boy gets the girl and they lived happily ever after. This might seem weird, who doesn't want a happy ending? But the thing is, a book should continuously surprise you throughout the book. If you can lean back and relax after 5 chapters, it's not a very good book, is it? I strive to give you stories where, no matter where you are in the book, you can at any point get surprised or shocked over something that happens. There are according to me, too many books with plain and boring endings, because that's what people want. But that's not what I want. I'm not saying that stories have to have brutals ending where the world ends, but author should strive to give the readers a different and new ending in every story. So I stand for my ending, and I wouldn't change it for anything. However, I won't stand in the way of your imagination of what happened between chapter 50 and the epilogue, and after the epilogue. That's entirely up to you. Love, Kajsa.
